Birthday Blessings 2020: A (BDSM) Year in Review

Another trip around the sun! This year has been an absolute delight, full of hedonistic pleasure and challenging firsts. Reaching my birthday has given me another opportunity to reflect on what I’ve accomplished, as well as set intentions for the coming year.

This year I:

Initiated and sustained my first D/s lifestyle relationship. This has required me to learn to trust someone else with my vision and has been one of the best teaching tools on what I want from all of my kink dynamics. I am a better communicator, leader, and executrix because of what this relationship has taught me about delegation and service.
Began seriously organizing with Red Canary Song and Kink Out Events, which has been one of my deepest joys. This could honestly be its own post. Working on programming and productions such as Sex Worker Pop-up, the MoMA PS1 residency, and International Whores’ Day 2020 has filled my cup to the brim. Getting to work with such incredible comrades in service of communities that I adore is the kind of vision-aligned work that I want to dedicate to my life to.
Had the opportunity to collaborate at various scales with personal heroes of mine, people I deeply admire, such as Dia Dynasty, Mistrix Sade, and Tina Horn.
Studied as an out sex worker in academia
Organized my first queer orgy (or my first orgy at all, for that matter)
Fallen deeply, deeply in love with my leather family, and got to share some of the hottest scenes of my life between them and a growing stable of grade-A, top-quality submissives.

This coming year,

I want to further dedicate my time and labor to organizing for the collective liberation of workers from across the industry. None of us are free until all of us are.
Along the same lines, I want to share the wealth, in scenes, in the industry, in the system. More conferences! More skill shares! More fundraising + organizing! More group scenes! And perhaps it is time for me to hire the services of a sex worker for myself.
I want to further refine my technical skills. This pandemic has left me wanting to hop back into corporal sessions that remind me just how good it is to have this body. I would love to do more sessions involving whipping, flogging, and bloodplay.
I will be so excited to hold space for all the pent up energy that will need to be released when the pandemic ends, and to make it into something terrifying, beautiful, sublime.
